The Stroud Walking Festival

Stroud's walking festival takes place annually during September. It is organised by Stroud Town Council in partnership with a host of local environment and educational groups and organisations. Each year a number of walks will be delivered by a fully qualified walk leader and take place in or close to Stroud. There is always something of interest for everyone. If there isn't, you might like to organise your own walk with a group of friends or associates. However often you walk, however far you walk, for what ever reason, celebrate it a little more during the festival week.

Even if you have never participated in a walk before, this could be a great opportunity to start and even help you to become more active and adopt a health lifestyle. To find out about all the walks taking place during the Stroud Walking Festival visit the Walks Near You page or alternatively download the Festival brochure.

Strolling in Gloucestershire

The Strolling in Gloucestershire festival is organised by all six local authorities in Gloucestershire. The festival takes place during the summer and showcases a variety of walks that will have something for everyone. These include short walks aimed at improving people's health to longer walks exploring Gloucestershire’s beautiful countryside.

Many of the walks are part of a national initiative called the 'Walking the Way to Health' which encourages people, particularly those who take little exercise, to do regular short walks in their communities. The festival is also part of the national campaign Change 4 Life which is encouraging people to adopt healthy lifestyles and become more physically active.
